A Successful Past
The Lyric Theatre was founded in 1888 as a concert hall. It was restored and enlarged on the exact location twice by architect Frank Matcham, first in 1890 and later in 1895. The theatre was scheduled to close and be demolished in 1966. It was reinstalled and reopened its doors in 1979.
