An Interesting Past of Novello Theatre
The Novello Theatre has survived bomb strikes during both world wars. After being restored post-bombing, it has hosted a variety of jukebox musicals, plays, and comedians.
Built as part of the Aldwych/Kingsway complex, it was a companion to the modern Aldwych Theatre. This building is an architectural marvel made of Portland stone with a distinctively bent corner. The interior is one of designer W G R Sprague’s finest surviving works.
In the 1930 and early 1970s, the theatre underwent substantial renovations. Then again, to prepare for its 100th anniversary in 2005, it got a brand new interior. The current capacity is around 1,050 people, and the interior is equipped with gorgeous accents and fantastic lighting to greet audiences.
